As per Drik Panchang, it marks the commencement of Marathi Shaka Samvat in 1946.

The Pratipada Tithi begins on April 8th at 11:50 pm and concludes on April 9th at 8:30 pm.

Gudi Padwa traces its roots to Hindu mythology, signifying the day of Lord Brahma’s creation of the universe and the introduction of days, weeks, months, and years.

Additionally, it commemorates King Shalivahana’s victory, celebrated with the hoisting of the Gudi or flag upon his return to Paithan.

The Gudi, comprising a bamboo stick adorned with a piece of fresh cloth, neem leaves, and sugar candy garlands, symbolizes victory, warding off evil, and inviting prosperity.

Silk Sari (जरीची साडी) – Luxury (वैभव)

Sugar Bales (साखर गाठी) – Harmony (मधुर्य)

Flower Garlands (पुष्पहार) – Fortune (मांगल्य)

Neem Leaves (कडुनिंब) – Health (आरोग्य)

Copper Pot (कलश) – Victory (यशश्री)

Spiritual Significance of Gudi

Silk Sari – Emits frequencies in the downward direction covering the lower plane.
