1. Dhari Devi Temple

The Dhara Devi Temple is situated on the banks of the river Alaknanda, between Srinagar and Rudraprayag, in Uttarakhand, India.

The most surprising fact about this temple is that – It is believed that the face of Goddess Dhara Devi changes its form thrice a day.

In the morning the idol of the goddess looks like a girl,

In the afternoon, the idol looks like a young woman and

In the evening the idol looks like an older woman.

Isn’t it AMAZING!!!

2. Badrinath Temple

We chose to go in May, because, the Badrinath temple is open only for six months every year. The temple is available for worshippers between the end of April and the beginning of November. This is because of extreme weather conditions in the Himalayan region of Uttarakhand.

When the rain stopped, we went to the temple. Once you enter the temple, the serene beauty surrounding it will make you feel at bliss!!!

3. Kedarnath Temple

In the Garhwal Himalayan range, near the Mandakini river in Uttarakhand, is the beautiful Kedarnath temple.

Kedarnath temple is open to the general public only between April (Akshaya Tritiya) and November (Kartik Purnima, the full autumn moon). This is due to the extreme weather conditions in Uttarakhand.

During the other 6 months of extreme winters, the vigraha (Lord Shiva) of the temple is carried down to Ukhimath to be worshipped.

4. Omkareshwar Temple

After visiting the Kedarnath temple, we reached Gupt Kashi.

From Gupt Kashi, we booked a rented car to went to Ukhimath. It was a 1-hour pleasant drive. As we come towards Ukhimath, the weather becomes a bit warm.

Ukhimath is situated in the Rudraprayag district, Uttarakhand, India. It is a small town and is known for its Hindu pilgrimage temples. Ukhimath is blessed with several artistic ancient temples.

Ukhimath is like a central destination point, as we can visit different places from here. The Tungnath Temple, Deoria Tal, which is a natural freshwater lake, the Madmaheshwar Temple and many other picturesque places are easier to travel from Ukhimath.

One of the oldest temples of India is situated, in Ukhimath, the Omkareshwar Pith.

5. Kalimath Temple

The Kalimath temple is open for devotees year-round. But during the Navratri festival, many devotees come to pay their homage.

Kalimath temple is the only place where Goddess Kali is adored along with her sisters Laxmi and Saraswati.

As per the folklore, to save the universe from the demons – Nishumbha and Raktabija, Goddess Kali took the form of a 12-year-old girl.

After winning the fierce battle with the demons and balancing the power of the universe, Goddess Kali went underground.
