When you feel tensed on a certain day, and you go and stand under the shower, you feel good. You spend more time in the shower than you usually do on other days.

Taking a shower doesn’t take away the tension but still, you feel light and refreshed.

This happens because our body consists of 70% of water.  2/3rd of your body weight is water.

Throughout the day, your core body temperature naturally fluctuates in harmony with your circadian rhythm.

The circadian rhythm controls the sleep-wake cycle.

Your mind relies on your body temperature to decide whether it is time to sleep or to be awake.

At night, your body temperature cools slightly, this sends the signal to the brain that it is time to sleep.

Your body temperature is the lowest in the early morning, at which point it begins rising again, preparing your body to wake up and meet the day.

So, it is advisable to take bath at least twice a day.

In the morning, take a bath with cold water, and in the evening take bath with warm water.

Bathing helps regulate the body temperature and to relax the nerves and muscles in our body. It also helps uplift our moods.

Morning Bath: With Cold Water

In the olden times, people used to take a bath by dipping their bodies in the lakes /rivers.

The first thing to do when you start taking a bath in the morning is to pour some cold water on the centremost part of your head.

By wetting your head first, you are calming the brain, which in turn, regulates the whole body temperature.

Our internal body temperature is regulated by a part of the brain, known as the “Hypothalamus”.

The hypothalamus looks into the current temperature of the body and compares it with the normal temperature, which is 37°C.

Researchers have proved that cold water helps lower your body temperature faster.

If our body temperature is too low, the hypothalamus makes sure that the body generates and maintains heat.

In the morning, as we want to feel energized and active, the cold water makes our body activate heat and energy in the body. Hence, charges our body to face the day with energy.

So, when you start taking a bath, start by pouring/wetting the centremost of your head with cold water, which will activate the “Hypothalamus” and activate the mind and the body.

Water for bathing should be 5 -8 degrees Celsius lower than the room temperature.

If your body tends to catch a cold easily, then you can add a spoonful of Eucalyptus oil in cold water, you can use this water to take bath. This will help cure nasal problems.

In the morning, start your bath from head to toe, because the water is cold.

A cold water bath in the morning will keep you energized and healthy throughout the day!!!

Evening Bath: With Warm Water

In the evening, just before going to bed, always take a bath with warm water.

As the water is warm, start by wetting your feet and then the upper parts of your body.

We should start bathing from the feet because warm water on the feet increases your overall body temperature. This, in turn, relieves muscle and mental tension.

The release of all these tensions will boost your immune system. This will prevent sickness and will increase your overall health and well-being.

You can take a lukewarm shower in the evening but not a hot water shower.

A lukewarm shower is like steam which helps you breathe easier at night. As it is easier for you to breathe, the quality of your sleep becomes healthier.

To boost the stimulating or relaxing effects of your lukewarm shower, you can add in some essential oils.

For your night’s sleep, opt for sleep-promoting oils like Sandalwood oil, Lavender oil, Chamomile oil or peppermint oil.

You can add a few drops of any of these essential oils to your shower gels.

The fragrance of your essential oil and a lukewarm shower will help you relax and get a good night’s sleep.

Your body will heat up thanks to the warm water. After you get out of the shower, the water quickly evaporates from your skin, cooling you down.

This rapid cool-down effect signals the brain that it is time to sleep.

This rapid cool down is the largest reason why a shower at night is so essential for your sleep.

A warm water bath will help you relax, both physically and emotionally. When you are less stressed and more relaxed mentally, it is easier to sleep.

In the evening, start your bath from toe to head, because the water is warm.

A warm water bath in the evening will keep you relaxed throughout the night !!!

Saving Water

Saving water is easy, and learning how to save water is even easier.

The bathroom is a great place to start making water conscious decisions.

For instance, when you take a bath, fill the tub only halfway to avoid water spilling over. Don’t wait for the water to get hot before plugging the drain, you can plug the drain first and regulate the temperature as the tub fills. This can save water in the long run.

Instead of a shower, take a bath, in the bucket and mug way, so you know the exact amount of water needed, in a shower, you do not really know how much water is used.

Saving our natural resources is essential, only then will our young generation thrive in future.

If we utilize all the natural resources what will our younger ones do?
