Watching movies is the best way to pass time at home, during these “lockdown times”.

I have watched all the content available on all OTT platforms and was bored. 

So, I started searching for Bollywood movies online. 

As the news nowadays aren’t very pleasant , I decided to add some laughter and happiness to my life. So, I searched for classic comedy movies.

I came up with this list of my favourite 5 comedy movies that tickled my funny bone.

1. Chup Chup Ke 

Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor are the main leads of the movie. Paresh Rawal’s comedy is great in the movie.

The story starts with Jeet (Shahid Kapoor), who runs away from his house, as he had debts.

He somehow reaches Shruti’s (Kareena Kapoor) house. Kareena Kapoor plays a rich family girl who cannot speak. 

Jeet pretends that he cannot hear or speak (deaf and mute).

The comedy of errors revolves around Shruti’s family members, Jeet and Jeet’s money lenders. 

The misunderstandings and confusions make the film funny and a good fun watch.

2. Andaz Apna Apna

Salman Khan ( Prem ), Aamir Khan ( Amar ), Raveena Tandon ( Raveena ) and Karishma Kapoor ( Karishma ) are the main leads of the film.

Shakti Kapoor plays “Crime Master Gogo”, his dressing and dialogues are hilarious.

Paresh Rawal plays a double role, “ Teja ” and “ Ram Gopal Bajaj .”

Prem and Amar want to marry a rich girl so that their lives are sorted.

Karishma is the daughter of a rich businessman, Ram Gopal Bajaj.

But Raveena and Karishma decide to change their identities. So, Raveena pretends to be the rich girl and Karishma played her secretary.

The comedy of errors begins.

Shakti Kapoor and Paresh Rawal enhance the comedy level in the movie.

3. Hungama

Paresh Rawal  ( Radheshyam Tiwari ) , Shoma Anand ( Anjali Tiwari) , Rimi Sen  ( Anjali ) , Aftab Shivdasani ( Nandu) , Akshaye Khanna  ( Jeetu ) , Sanjay Narvekar  ( Anil) and Shakti Kapoor ( Kachara Seth) .

Radheshyam Tiwari has moved to Mumbai city with his wife, from the village. 

Anjali doesn’t have money and is looking for a job in Mumbai. 

Anjali fakes her marriage with an unknown person – Nandu, just to get accommodation in a cheap lodge.

Nandu is trying his ways to be a musician. 

Jeetu, on the other hand, has just started his own electronics shop. His friend Anil, pretends to be Radheshyam Tiwari’s son, who is a rich businessman.

 Anil collaborates with Pandu (Tiwari’s servant) to trick Kachara Seth.

Anil does this to marry Kachara Seth’s daughter.

Jeetu sees Anjali at Tiwari’s door and thought that she is Tiwari’s daughter. 

From here the comedy of errors start. The film has a lot of mix-ups and confusions, which adds to the comedy.

The ending of the movie is hilarious.

4. Hera Pheri

Akshay Kumar ( Raju ), Suniel Shetty ( Shyam) and Baburao Apte ( Paresh Rawal) are the main characters of the film.

Baburao has an old house and Raju and Shyam are his paying guests.

All three of them are poor. Baburao’s only source of money was the rent money. But both his paying guests could not pay.

A phone call to Baburao from a kidnapper is the start of the movie.

The kidnapper had kidnapped a rich businessman’s girl. The kidnapper by mistake dials Baburao’s number to ask for money.

The three main leads pretend to be the kidnappers. Then they would call the businessman and ask for double money.

They planned to keep half the money and give the other half of the money to the kidnapper and release the girl.

5. Pehla Pehla Pyaar

Rishi Kapoor ( Raj ) and Tabu ( Sapna) are the main leads of the movie.

The other characters of the film are Anupam Kher ( Anand ), Amrish Puri ( Hukum Singh ), Gulshan Grover  (Shakti Singh) , Tiku Talsania (Anand’s Boss) and Kader Khan .

Kader Khan plays a triple role – grocer, driver and Dharan Pal. 

Sapna belongs to a well-known family. But she is tired of the evil nature and politics happening in her family. 

So, she decides to run away from her house. 

She happens to bump into with Raj. She starts falling in love with Raj.

But Raj wants to get away from her. His ways to get rid of Sapna are hilarious.

With time, Raj too starts falling in love with Sapna. 

During this time, Sapna’s family has appointed people in search of her. They even put up prize money if anyone could find out Sapna’s information.

So the couple has to run around to hide. The scenarios which take place are funny.
